Trnava University in Trnava

Trnava University (TU) is one of the oldest universities in Slovakia. It was founded in 1635 by Cardinal Péter Pázmány and originally had four faculties. In 1777, the university was relocated to Buda.

On March 25, 1992, the Slovak government re-established Trnava University, and it was officially reopened on July 1, 1992. The St. Andrew’s Pedagogical Institute in Ružomberok became part of TU.

Trnava University is committed to the principles of the European University Association, maintaining full independence from political and economic powers, and upholding the freedom of research and teaching. TU adheres to Christian values, aims to protect moral and spiritual principles, and cooperates with universities and scientific institutions both in Slovakia and abroad.
