On May 3, 2020, the 2nd transnational project meeting for our project took place. If done as planned, it would have taken place on the premises of the training centre eMeLeS Limited in Dublin. However, as in all areas of society, the coronavirus pandemic has a significant impact on our project. Therefore, we were deprived of the experience of meeting some of our project partners in person. We could not visit the generous premises of the Slovak educational centre in Dublin and perceive the atmosphere of testing the prepared textbooks and workbooks directly in the classrooms. To monitor pupils who, despite living far from Slovakia, want to communicate in Slovak and improve their level of language skills.
So the whole meeting took place in the online space. However, its level was not reduced in any way and the rich program was highly fulfilled in terms of content. The whole meeting was organized by partners from Ireland, by the main coordinator Mrs. Šefčíková nd by Mrs. Libichová with the participation of the whole team of teachers of this educational center. In the beginning, they welcomed all participants, namely: Ms. Píšová, Ms. Ďuránová and Mr. Csiba from the Slovak State Pedagogical Institute (ŠPÚ), Ms. de la Bouvrie a Ms. Matísková were connected from Paris, Ms. Smalley from Birmingham and the language school iCan was represented by Ms. Kurotová, Ms. Maleeva a Ms. Tunegová.
The program of the meeting was really rich. The organizing partners showed us their educational centre in the form of presentations, short videos from the school premises as well as from the classrooms. As we were unable to visit Dublin in person, we learned about interesting facts from the history, geography or sights of Ireland in a short presentation as well.
This was followed by a demonstration of testing the teaching materials of the First Contact Textbook and a workbook for preschool children. It was very interesting to watch the children's work in class and to see familiar textbooks and workbooks on their school-desks. The partners from Petit Slavik and Slovak Club Birmingham also evaluated the observations, comments and their experiences from testing. We were pleased that the prepared material is received positively, although of course the results of testing also alert us to things that need to be fixed. However, that is the purpose of testing.
In the next part of the meeting, Ms. Tunegova evaluated the progress of work on individual outputs of the project from the point of view of meeting the deadlines of the author and technical teams and evaluated the drawing of the budget for all partners. She also informed about the intention to improve the project by supplementing the prepared textbooks with recordings for publications. The partners from the Slovak State Pedagogical Institute presented samples from the forthcoming Translation Dictionary and the Manual for educators and parents of children from abroad. She also drew attention to the upcoming Multiplier Event, where these two outputs of the project will be presented. The first Multiplier Event will take place on 15.06.2021. But before that, we will meet in June, although virtually again - at the 3rd transnational meeting in "Paris", which we are already looking forward to.
Dear supporters of the Language School iCan, we will of course inform you about these events as well.
